Hydroplaning – according to AAA.com – January & February 2019 publication:
When driving in just one-twelfth of an inch of water, each tire must displace a gallon of water every second. If you’re going too fast, or your tires are worn or underinflated, one or more tires can lose their grip on the road, causing you to hydroplane. If it feels like your vehicle is beginning to skid, let up on the accelerator, avoid breaking, and look and steer in the direction you want to go.
